For home–school cooperation, education and parents
We are parents’ own league, encouraging and inspiring active parenthood throughout a child’s learning path. We promote children’s growth, learning, wellbeing and sense of community in nursery schools, schools and upper secondary institutions.
The Finnish Parents’ League
The Finnish Parents’ League (Suomen Vanhempainliitto ry) is a nationwide parent community and expert organization. Our work supports children’s growth, learning, wellbeing and sense of community in nursery schools, schools and upper secondary institutions.
We build bridges between parents and nursery schools, schools and educational institutions by strengthening cooperation. In addition, we provide guidance and support to parent associations and parent activists, and we bring parents’ perspectives into educational decision-making. The League consists of around 1,200 registered parent associations across Finland.
Let’s all work together for the sake of the children! You are most welcome to join!
In parental activity:
- you get to influence the everyday school experience of your child
- you engage in meaningful volunteer work to promote the well-being of the entire school community
- you get to work with other parents, children and youths as well as professionals of the care and education sector
- you get to be a part of inspiring and versatile activities and receive peer support for parenting.

Seek out parental activities at your child’s school! If the school does not yet have a parents’ association, talk to the principal about establishing one.
Parental activities mean:
events, campaigns, theme weeks, parents’ evenings and communality
Home and School day, well-being week, crosswalk monitoring, reading challenges, declaration of school peace, kids’ disco, living advent calendar, communal movie night, reflector challenge, Welcome to School event for first-graders, family floorball, recycling event, Valentine’s day celebrations, peer support group for parents of special needs children, parents’ evening planned together with the students’ association, etc.
Impact work, such as surveys, statements and network cooperation
Well-being at school, enjoyable hobby for every child, friendship and digital skills, safe commute to school, campaign to promote exercise to children, tasty school food, etc.
Collaboration, communication and a pinch of administration and finances
Today’s association operations > lightweight management, up-to-date communications and carefully considered fundraising efforts.
